A Proud Family Business in Gravesend
We’re a family-run, independent business that has been trading in Gravesend town centre since April 30th, 1995. That’s over three decades serving our local community.
Over the years, we’ve seen the town centre change in many ways. New businesses have opened, others have sadly disappeared, and the high street has faced challenges we never could have predicted. Through it all, it’s been a privilege to remain a constant presence in Gravesend.
Resilience Through Challenging Times
Like many small businesses, we’ve weathered some tough chapters.
The 2008 recession, rising rents and business rates, and the impact of Bluewater on the high street all brought challenges. On a personal level, Martin faced serious ill health, including a cancer diagnosis yet continued to rebuild, recover, and keep the business going.
Then came COVID-19. While our shop was forced to close during lockdown, large out-of-town competitors were still able to trade. It was an incredibly difficult period, but one that strengthened our resolve to keep going and continue serving our community.
Supporting Local, Supporting Each Other
We are deeply committed to Gravesend and the surrounding Kent area. That’s why we only use local flooring fitters and tradespeople, supporting other small businesses and skilled professionals in our community.
The building we work from also has a story of its own. Once home to the much-loved Plaza Cinema, it became retail space in the 1950s and more recently, we’ve given it a little makeover with fresh signage to reflect the business inside.
